“To sail is necessary, to live is not necessary.”

Before understanding Pompey`s adage ["Navigare necesse; vivere non est necesse"], my day to day life and my perception of the surrounding world in São Paulo, where I was born in 1962, was guided by observations of shape, color, proportion and their relationships.

In my childhood to draw, to paint, to design, to learn was necessary, “to live” it was not necessary.

My professional studies began in 1977 up to 1980 at Escola Tecnica Federal de São Paulo (Vocational School), studying architecture and engineering.

My broad interest in visual and performing arts, architecture, graphic and industrial design, photography, science and technology drove my academic studies to architecture at Mackenzie Presbyterian University (São Paulo), between 1982 and 1988 where I graduated with a bachelor degree.

After college’s conclusion I turned my academics interests to fine arts and went to Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP São Paulo) where I spent the years of 1988 and 1989 learning and perfecting various expression techniques and art theories.

As in the beginning, I am still moved by observations of shape, color, texture, proportion and their relationships, which currently support the development of my artwork through digital media.

To learn, to reflect, to comprehend, to imagine, to draw, to paint, to design... is necessary, “to live” it is not necessary.
